Agilent features ultra low noise amplifier module

Agilent Technologies Inc. (Agilent Technologies) recently announced the launch of ultra low noise index (0.9 ~ 3.5GHz) single crystal microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) low noise amplifier (LNA) module, the shutdown (shutdown) can enhance the efficacy of function of GPS mobile phone.

Li Ting, general manager of semiconductor products division of Agilent Technologies Co., Ltd., China and Hongkong, said: ALM-1106 can help customers reduce the size of the PCB and reduce the cost of materials related to the phone's GPS function."

For mobile phone manufacturers that are starting to provide location-based services, high efficacy GPS LNA offers a very attractive solution. According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (U.S. FCC) to develop the wireless emergency service (E911) standard, telecom service providers must provide the location information of 911 emergency services by the caller, which requires the mobile phone have more powerful function of GPS. At present, only the high-performance GPS LNA can meet the GPS sensitivity required by service providers.

ALM-1106's operating voltage is 1V, its shutdown function can reduce the standby current, and uses a leadless, pocket (2x2mm) ultra thin (less than 1.1mm) MCOB (on board molded chip) package. The MMIC LNA module is also suitable for use with IEEE 802.11b receivers with 802.11g WiFi and 2GHz and 3.5GHz IEEE 802.16 WiMAX/BWA (broadband wireless access).

Agilent technology patented GaAs enhancement mode pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor using ALM-1106 LNA module (E-pHEMT) manufacturing technology, with ultra low noise index (0.85dB), high linearity and high gain (14.8dB) and other features, the CMOS compatible shutdown pin can provide bias adjustable amplifier. In addition, this module also has 0dBm output power (1dB compression) and a wide dynamic range, the third cut-off point input value is +5dBm (above are typical); the operating voltage is between 1.0V to 3.3V, the operating current (VDD) voltage in 1V is only 3.5mA, the total shutdown current of about 20 A (the remaining 120 A current to drive the shutdown pin with a shutdown current of less than 5 A,).
