Avid start high brightness LED packaging line, the next step in the development of strategic lock backlight, automotive applications

With the high brightness LED chip submount packaging line is established, Avid ELectronics plans to mass production and expect to achieve significant sales growth in 2008. Avid said, submount packaging line will enter mass production in December. The production line has an annual production capacity of 12 million units and has received customer orders, most of which are from Asia and europe.

Avid plans to expand its LED field into the automotive market and in the low power LED application market after two years, such as backlight.

Avid expects submounted shipments in December will reach 100 thousand units in LED.
