CISCO's strategic investment to enter the home automation market

EST on January 11th (Beijing time January 12th), according to the latest overseas reports, Internet giant CISCO group made a strategic investment in home automation control expert Zensys.

CISCO group is the main focus of Zensys's Z-Wave wireless home automation control technology.

Zensys declined to disclose the specific number of investments made by CISCO group.

CISCO group Linksys department is responsible for engineering and marketing vice president Malachy Moynihan said on the Linksys department, Z-Wave wireless home automation control technology has a cooperative work ability, good reliability and cheap characteristics, which have become the investment decision factors.

"We think the digital home automation market will be another big opportunity for us," Moynihan said. Working with Zensys will enable us to expand our home automation control technology products more flexibly."

Zensys plans to use part of the CISCO group's investment to accelerate the integration of Z-Wave technology into the Linksys product range.

Zensys is the Z-Wave technology developers and supporters, Z-Wave technology alliance currently has 125 members, including the Danish home automation manufacturer Danfoss company and the famous Swiss computer peripherals manufacturer Logitech Inc.

Z-Wave technology in the wireless home automation control market is the main competitor Zigbee.

Since the ZigBee technology group released the first specification in mid 2004 12, the industry began to set off a high-profile campaign around the home automation and wireless networking. Although ZigBee technology is positioned to meet the requirements of building and industrial automation applications, the technology has also begun to be built as a solution to the home automation market.
