Innovative design and implementation of digital media interface

The media interface based on semiconductor lighting technology is a kind of contemporary art form which has the characteristics of digitalization, change and interaction. LED, as the most digital lighting technology in the field of lighting, has become the first choice of media interface design. School of architecture and city planning of Tongji University team vision and lighting academic by National 863 program, the provincial and ministerial level and a series of semiconductor lighting and the application research and the related research work, and has undertaken indoor lighting design of Shanghai Expo park landscape lighting planning, Expo Cultural Center, the innovative design of digital media interface in LED the World Expo Cultural Center West, two south entrance hall which has become the most characteristic and challenging work. The creative design and implementation directly from the design professional teaching base -- architectural lighting laboratory, over the years the development direction of teachers continue the experimental teaching, the laboratory construction will not only become the experimental base of academic research, technology innovation has become the base of research and development. To this end, through classroom teaching and installation operations, a total of nearly 70 undergraduate students, graduate students participated in the Expo project design and experimental work. By virtue of their talent and innovation ability and cleverness, after nearly two years of hard work, creative design on the basis of the experiment, explore a Teaching benefits teachers as well as students., not only the new teaching ideas, but also to develop a new experimental design method.

1 Experimental Design: to promote the teaching of scientific research into the concept of innovation

According to the lighting design concept of Expo Cultural Center, West and south entrance hall as the main distribution area, from the visual angle of light and hope to give the audience a clear sense of direction and defining the space, and the use of some color light adjusting atmosphere. The starting point of the design is to use the LED screen as the visual focus of the hall. The digital media interface has gone through two years of exploration, after three stages to achieve. The first stage: the layout of the students to make LED screen constitute the work of art, select some of the best work in the laboratory LED screen for experimental demonstration. The second stage: in the laboratory to demonstrate the performance of the two students to obtain the approval of the Expo Cultural Center owners, to be applied in the venue of the two entrance hall. The third stage: in the entrance hall of the construction site, laboratory teachers, students and LED production enterprises, site construction personnel together with the installation and debugging of the art device two.

This paper involves many fields of the cross, which relates to the semiconductor technology, material science, construction method, visual and visual perception theory, image display technology, media technology and building integration etc.. The key of the research is to apply the semiconductor lighting technology and the image dynamic combination technology to the architectural design. In order to enhance the level of architectural design of the media interface, the LED interface of the single media to change the current mode of expression, the organic combination of LED and strengthen the building construction practice, visual design rich architectural interface, through the experimental study: 1 base LED luminous dot pixel spacing, optical parameter and control method; 2 optical dielectric layer material structure the form and optical properties; 3 imaging interface brightness and color photometric characteristics; 4 optimization of dynamic image media interface image and visual effects.

2 generation method and construction system -- the realization of design and innovation practice

At the entrance to the Expo Cultural Center, the audience can see a large number of digital media works - "Oriental dream". The media interface construction system is composed of a homogeneous LED base layer, a plastic film light medium layer and a frosted glass image bearing layer. LED screen changing animation and plastic bags form pattern, organic combination of the two, and after the frosted glass makes image generation dim beauty, like Chinese traditional ink painting.

At the entrance of the south, the audience can see another digital media art works - "bloom"". The interface between the LED substrate and the glass bearing surface is the same as that of the above, while the optical dielectric layer is pressed with a tin plate. Oftinned itself is not transparent, engraving pattern after tensile center, the protruding 0~5cm forming a gap, light from the back through the rift, eventually showing a pattern of roses in bloom on frosted glass.

Different from the existing media interface, the design uses low pixel and large distance LED for the grass, add a middle tectonic level -- light medium and surface imaging materials, a total of three structure, architectural design and combination.
