Intel plans at the end of a single core Xeon Processor

Intel recently announced the launch of its plan in the final of a single core Intel Xeon processor. At the same time, Intel also announced a low version of the Intel Xeon processor product line. Currently, Intel is turning to the introduction of dual core or multi-core processor platform.

The general manager vice president of Intel's digital enterprise group and Intel server platform division Diane Bryant said: "we are actively promoting the transition to a new generation of multi kernel server. At the same time supporting the transition to multi core enterprise computing platform, Intel has also launched the next generation of processor and platform samples. The power consumption of these products will be greatly reduced, while the use of excellent management can be achieved, virtualization support and I/O efficiency and other advantages of the new platform technology."

As part of an improved power consumption strategy, Intel also announced the Intel Xeon processor low-voltage version. Including 64 Intel Xeon processor LV 3 GHz1 and 64 Intel Xeon processor MV 3.20 GHz, respectively, power consumption is only 55 watts and 90 watts. These two processors are designed for rack and blade server, for these servers, saving space and reducing power consumption is the primary problem.

Intel also launched a new single core Intel Xeon processor 3.80GHz 64. This product has a 2MB level two cache can be backward compatible with previous Intel Xeon processor platform, and continue to provide such characteristics, based on need distribution technology and excellent performance and good flexibility, can simultaneously support hyper threading (HT) technology, DDR2-400 memory and PCI Express. In addition, Intel also launched a 64 Intel Xeon processor with 2 MB level two cache 2.80 GHz, for small and medium enterprises in the environment of the server. In the next few weeks, Intel will launch its first dual core Intel Xeon processor, codenamed "Paxville". The product was originally launched in 2006, will be able to double (DP) and multi-channel (MP) server to improve performance.

The initial 2006, Intel will launch another server platform, codenamed "Bensley", including the code named "Dempsey" dual core Intel Xeon processor, codenamed "Blackford" dual core chipset, and optimization can improve the performance, manageability, reliability and productivity of technology innovation. At the same time, Intel will also launch a dual core Intel Xeon processor workstation based on the platform, codenamed "Glidewell", which includes the Dempsey processor designed for workstations and optimized "Greencreek" new chipsets.

To further reduce the power consumption of the server, Intel also plans to launch in 2006 a code for the "new dual core processor Sossaman, energy saving oriented environment. By the end of 2006, Intel will launch based on a dual core Intel Xeon processor platform, codenamed "Woodcrest", Intel advanced 65 nanometer process technology and design. Based on the company's next generation power optimization micro architecture of the Woodcrest processor will significantly improve performance and reduce power consumption.
