Using PS to produce LED style text

Now there are a lot of design works have used a similar LCD screen display font effect, want to know how to achieve it? It's not hard at all.

Open Photoshop and set the background color to black. Press Ctrl + N to create a new PSD document, set the Mode for RGB Color, Contents Background Color, so that you can get a background layer Background is filled with black image documents.

Select the foreground color to white, with typesetting tools in the image document central white text. The size of the text can be a little larger, please use a thick font, I use the Impace font.

Create a new layer and fill it with a new layer. Name the layer Mask.

Here we use a filter that has been forgotten by many people Dither Box. This is what I found in Photoshop 5.5, so I'm not sure that the Adobe Photoshop 5 also has this filter. Dither Box filter can be used to define the small size of the pattern (maximum size of 8 * 8 Pixels), and then use this pattern to fill the current layer.

Click Filter > Other > DitherBox menu, see the Dither Box settings dialog box! It can be roughly divided into three parts:

The list on the left side of the dialog box is used to store previously defined and often used patterns. The Rename button is obviously used to rename the currently selected pattern in the list, and click on the New button to create a new pattern. Through the drop-down list in the upper left corner of the window, the pattern can be classified and stored in a file of type.Col. Select the New Collection project can create a group, while the Delete Collection project can delete the current group and the related.Col documents, Rename Collection can design a better life group name.

Through the window on the right color table can select the foreground drawing pattern when the default color table drop-down list at the top of the display in the Web Safe Palette Load Color Table, and can load other color table.

In the middle of the window there is a set of radio boxes, which can be used to determine the size of the custom pattern. Then you can use the middle of the pencil in the middle of the dialog box, dropper and rubber tools to draw the pattern. Each area of the pattern drawing area corresponds to a pixel in the defined pattern.

In this application, please refer to the following figure with a black and white two colors to create a pattern of a * * 4 Pixels, and then click the Fill button to fill the Mask layer with the pattern.

Finish the production before the discovery of the DitherBox filter, I think I will be a new 4 * 4 Pixels the size of the document, press Ctrl + "+" will map to the 1600% display, drawing pattern with the pencil tool, the minimum size of the brush, black and white two colors after selecting the entire image document, Edit Define > Pattern command defines a pattern, click Edit > Fill filled Mask layer with a pattern. The color of the "Mask" layer blending mode to Multiply, the white text document image has shown LED display style, white array consisting of small cubes spliced images in the document text, unfortunately, in the words of the edge there are some incomplete block, which is not allowed, we use the following steps to remove these defects in the LED display:

Merge all the layers in the image document with Layer > Flatten Image command, and then blur the image with Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur 1. Click Image > Adjust > Threshold menu in the dialog box to appropriately reduce Threshold Level value and observe the preview image in the document, the effect is that I will Threshold Level to 90 results.

If you want to get another color LED display, double click on the Background layer in the Layer panel and rename it to Layer 0. Create a new layer and place it to the Layer 0 layer below, with your love color filled Layer 1 layer, please color mixed mode Layer 0 changed to Multiply, LED style text effect finish!
