The LED drive circuit controls the power supply circuit of LED (light emitting diode) to light up the required power. Typically, the switching regulator IC sets the feedback voltage to approximately 1.2V. But for LED driver IC, 1.2V is too large. Because the output current is converted into a voltage of hundreds of M resistors (current sense resistors) need to be connected in series with the LED. For the use of lighting appliances, such as high brightness LED, through the 1.5A and 2A and other large current. If the 500m current is detected by a resistor in the current through the 1.5A, only this one will produce a 0.75W power loss. Thus, the LED driver IC sets the feedback voltage at a very low 0.2V. In this way, not only can the use of a smaller current detection resistor, but also in the large current through the power loss can also be controlled at a low level.

The second difference is to achieve a more accurate constant current control improvements. It is difficult to compensate the change of input voltage, the variation of LED forward voltage drop, the characteristic change of inductor and capacitor because of the feedback of the output current.

After the above changes, the amplitude of the fluctuating components overlapped with the current supplied to the LED will also be changed, resulting in the change of LED brightness. In general, the amplitude of the ripple component is determined by the input voltage, output voltage, inductance, and the turn-on time of the switch. To this end, the constant pulse mode is to detect the input voltage and output voltage, according to the voltage to adjust the conduction time. That is, through the precise control of the switch frequency, to achieve more accurate constant current control.
