Meet demand to reduce costs Fujitsu to build a new semiconductor factory

According to foreign reports, the Fujitsu Corporation of Japan announced Wednesday that due to Japan's growing demand for micro chip, chip production capacity must be extended to meet rising demand, the company plans to invest $1 billion 50 million to build second micro chip factory.

Fujitsu Corporation said it would set up a new micro chip factory in the middle of Prefecture, Mie, Japan, is expected in April 2007, the new plant can be put into operation in the manufacture of chips (Mie). The new plant will use advanced 65 nm process, the production of 300 mm wafers used to make system chips.

Fujitsu Corporation pointed out that due to the 300 mm wafer manufacturing chip is two times 200 mm wafer, it will help to reduce the manufacturing cost of the Fujitsu Corporation chip, in order to compete with rival chip prices lower.

The manufacturing industry in the global chip, more advanced chip manufacturers generally use 90 nanometer process, using more advanced 65 nanometer process can reduce the volume of the chip chip data processing, help quickly, but also reduce the cost of making chips.

Fujitsu Corporation plans to invest 120 billion yen over the next two years, so that the monthly production of new factories to achieve wafer production of 10000. Fujitsu Corporation's existing 300 mm wafer plant is in operation, the company plans to increase the capacity of existing plants, in 2007, before the month of March to reach the production of wafers of 15000.

According to industry statistics institutions of the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) released the latest data, the global semiconductor demand grew by 6.6% last year, the demand on the microchip world this year than last year growth of 8% next year, the demand will grow to 10.6%.

News also came, Fujitsu Corporation shares rose 4% to close at 1004 yen ($8.75).
