North America IES released three new LED lighting test standards

Introduction: North American Lighting Engineering Association IES recently released a solution to the parking lot lighting, other external lighting, as well as indoor fluorescent lamp products three new standard test documents.

In three as the center of the new lighting standard, respectively named "Lightingfor exterior environments external environment lighting" (RP-33-14), "Lighting for parkingfacilities parking lot lighting facilities" (RP-20-14), and "Approved method forphotometric

Testing of Indoor Fluorescent Luminaires indoor fluorescent lamp photometric test accredited method "(LM-41-14). Two of the proposed Practices (Recommended) RP standards are mainly applicable to solid state lighting (SSL), but also confirms the fact that the LED light source has been dominant in such applications. Another test method is the standard, as its name implies, specific to fluorescent lighting.

The publication of the RP standard is based on the experience of the IES Committee's professionals to guide lighting design efforts and covers a wide range of different applications. For example, we recently held a live webcast covering the key modifications and supplements to the new road lighting standards RP-8. The LM standard defines the test and calculation methods that act on the manufacturer's description of the component or lighting system performance to ensure a fair competitive environment. For example, LM-80 is applied to the performance of encapsulated LED. Similarly, LM-79 is used for lamp and lamp characteristics.

Parking facilities recommended by the standard RP-20-14 lighting in fixed lighting and designed to guide the new installation. In IES it is not recommended to apply it to existing installations unless existing lighting systems need to update the lighting technology. The standard covers both outdoor and roof garage. These guidelines were developed to optimize pedestrian and vehicle safety.

External ambient lighting recommended standard RP-33-14 focus on solving the problem of sky light, light invasion of external lighting devices, etc.. It provides guidance for the use of the Model Lighting Ordinance model lighting regulations. Specifically, the paper will help the lighting designer / descriptor to determine the appropriate lighting area specifications applicable to specific applications.

The indoor test standard defines the test procedures to ensure that adequate and uniform methods are used to determine and report the performance of Indoor Fluorescent lamps". Like previous LM files, LM-41 detailed product testing in the thermal environment and lighting control program. The objective is to provide accurate and consistent photometric data to ensure that the product is fairly comparable regardless of the product from any supplier.
