Samsung and SONY will build eighth generation LCD panel production plant strive to 07 in autumn

Samsung and SONY, before the construction of the eighth generation LCD panel factory reached a basic intention. The plant will be the second factory after the "S - LCD", a joint venture of the two companies, which was put into operation in April 2005, after the plant of the seventh generation.

The eighth generation of new plants will strive to put into operation in the fall of 2007. The glass substrate with a size of 2200mm * 2500mm is expected to produce 50 thousand pieces per month. Investment of about $2 billion. Samsung Electronics and SONY each invested $1 billion. The goal is to sign a formal contract before the end of June 2006.

The new plant will be built in the factory area of Samsung Electronics Tanjong factory (see photo). In the eighth generation LCD panel factory, SHARP also includes scheduled October 2006 production of second Kameyama factory.
