China Telecom operators blocked telephone network (VOIP) turmoil. Narus, a US network management software developer, announced yesterday that it had received orders from Shanghai Telecom to use its software to detect and block Internet telephony.
Yesterday, the Shanghai Telecom spokesman on the first financial daily said the matter is not clear. However, according to Narus, Shanghai Telecom plans to use Narus's software to prevent unauthorized access to the Internet via a fixed line network, these calls can circumvent the Shanghai telecom charging system. Shanghai Telecom currently has about 6 million 200 thousand fixed telephone subscribers.
At present, the rapid spread of Internet telephony in the global context, has been a serious threat to the interests of traditional telephone operators. The Chinese government has not issued a license to the Internet phone, previously, TOM online CEO Wang Leilei has revealed that China will not be issued before 2008 PC to PC between the network phone license. TOM has a joint venture with Skype, an Internet phone company.
Narus spokesman Steve Baneman (Steve Bannerman) said, including Egypt, the operator of several countries are using the company's software, blocking the network phone and traditional fixed line network interface.
But Narus is not the only American company to cooperate with Chinese operators. Last year, Verso technology also announced that an unnamed Chinese operator was trying to intercept the company's software.
