The British government plans to start NoveLELs

July 26, 2007, the (DBERR) has been named the NoveLELS plan, is committed to the development of a new type of GaN chip technology, solid-state light source of LED commercial. The program was funded by DBERR 3 million 300 thousand pounds, while the British government and Technology (the technology Strategy Board) to provide more than $1 million 700 thousand of its funding. NoveLELS plans to vertical integration alliance by University of Bath and Brunel University, IQE PLC, two Exxelis Limited, Mesophotonics Limited and Enfis Limited 4 Airbus, AgustaWestland and GE, maker of Aviation and other 3 large Aerospace Corp completed. 4 manufacturers will provide manufacturing experience, while the two university research team will host the new LED chip and phosphor technology research.

Program leaders also hope that the program can stimulate the extension of advanced GaN, LED chip manufacturing, advanced fluorescent powder and efficient thermal packaging commercialization. (http://www.solidstatelighting.net/lightimes/)
