According to the eetimes.de website reported that Lingli company (Linear Technology) has launched a dynamic power factor correction (PFC) isolated LED controller function. It is specially designed for driving LED from 90V to 265V for general purpose AC input range. The LT3799 is optimized for 4 W to more than 100W LED power and can be compatible with standard triac triac.
LT3799 good current sensing scheme can be used to monitor the two side current without the use of optical couplers. This not only reduces the cost, but also improves the reliability. In addition, it requires only a minimum of external components of the single-stage PFC regulator. The LT3799 package features enhanced thermal resistance of the MSOP-16E, which ensures that the controller can provide a simple and compact solution for offline LED applications.
LT3799 has a 86% supply efficiency, eliminating the need for external thermal drive IC. If coupled with a special internal circuit, it will provide up to 0.977 active PFC. This has met the requirements of the Department of energy (DOE) industry as well as the provisions of the IEC 61000-3-2 harmonic class C lighting. The LT3799 can be used for standard wall mounted triac and does not produce any noticeable flicker. In addition, its LED open circuit and short circuit protection system ensures the reliability of the LED long term application.
Price
The LT3799EMSE is available in a 16 pin thermally enhanced MSOP package. In 1000 units, each of which is priced at $2.25. High temperature version or "I" class LT3799IMSE, with 1000 pieces for batch units, each price starts at $2.59.
